Beyond Reliable Precision Cold Heading

The precision capabilities to meet your component requirements.

NN Inc.’s precision cold heading capabilities produce both solid and bimetal components in various sizes to meet customer requirements. Cold heading uses a metal wire input, cuts it into a precision slug, and then, with special tooling, impacts the slug to create the contact rivet.

We have expertise in manufacturing electrical contacts from many different materials for various applications. Electrical contact rivets are used in switches, relays, and circuit breakers, with design criteria including current, voltage, and switching frequency.

Solid Rivet Contacts

NN Inc. solid rivet cold heading machines uses a single base materials. Materials available range from copper and silver alloys. Cold heading equipment are high speed precision mechanical devices capable of high-volume production.

Contact rivet design to optimize the reduction of sticking, surface erosion, material transfer and electrical resistance.

Bimetal Contact Rivets

NN Inc.’s bimetal contact rivet cold heading machines use two materials that must be joinable, fused into a single rivet during the cold heading process. Materials available range from copper and silver alloys.

Bimetal contacts utilize these two different materials to optimize performance characteristics such as sticking, surface erosion, material transfer, and electrical resistance.
